To some people, dealing with home systems is just an endless nightmare.
Here’s just one example of how tricky it can be to maintain optimal indoor air quality and living conditions in a home.
Many of our customers are concerned with one of two things – either getting more moisture into the air inside their home or property or filtering moisture out.
On the one hand, you might have a basement or other space where humidity is gathering and causing condensation that can ruin what you’re storing there. It can also contribute to moldy conditions or other kinds of deterioration.
In other situations, forced air heating is taking its toll on the interior air, especially during the winter, and making the air so dry that it impacts people’s sinuses or their ability to sleep.
In each of these cases, you have to go look for a specific solution in order to manage the balance of your air.
Let’s talk about this a little bit…
Humidifiers and Dehumidifiers
First, there’s the dehumidifier. This is usually a standalone appliance that you put in a space, in order to collect the moisture that’s in the air and funnel it into some bucket or container. Sounds easy, right?
Well, first of all, you need an adequate motor and apparatus to get that moisture and remove it from the air and get it into the container in question.
Then you need a way to drain the dehumidifier.
It might be as simple as removing the bucket and dumping it into a sink, but when and how you do this makes a difference. In other situations, you might have a leaking dehumidifier that causes other problems, and you’ll have to find a way to route that water to where it can be safely disposed of!
Humidifiers, on the other hand, are often attached to a furnace or forced air heating system. They may have their own dials or controls on the auxiliary unit, and they require specific kinds of maintenance, too. One of the biggest things to look out for is that over time, the filter for the humidifier can get clogged or calcified, or the drain line can experience clogging, and then, again, you can have a bigger problem…
Keep in mind, this is just one example of the kinds of things that homeowners have to deal with on a regular basis. If it sounds frustrating, you’re not alone in that thought.
